The Rubes Triva Foundation, the organizing entity of the International Festival of Health and Safety at Work, in collaboration with the Olympus Observatory of the University of Urbino, has established a multidisciplinary working group dedicated to the study and discussion of the risks and opportunities inherent in the use of new technologies, artificial intelligence, and robotics. This initiative is part of the preparation for the 4th edition of the Festival, which will be held in Gorizia from June 25 to 27, 2025.

The composition of the working group (GdL) will ensure the presence of scholars and experts in anthropology, law, politics, ethics, economics, physics, engineering, and the industrial sector, complemented by hearings from specialists in areas of specific interest. A multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach will define the activities of the GdL, which will focus on interpreting the theme of safe and dignified work, as already codified in the Urbino Charter, and adapting it to the new frontiers of workplace safety.

In particular, the working group will analyze the foundational elements and impacts on health and safety at work of technocentric and human-centric approaches, moving toward a broader concept of individual well-being, both in the workplace and within the ecosystem they are part of.

Within the context of work organization, the goal is to consider the individual as the primary beneficiary of the advantages brought by the digitalization of business processes, aiming to create a workplace environment that cares for the individual, supports them, and contributes to their professional and personal development. The in-depth analysis conducted by the working groups will focus on three dimensions: inhabiting, understanding, and regulating the new frontiers of the world of work. The findings related to the working group’s composition, methodological approach, and areas of focus will be integrated into the activities of the 2025 Festival.

The Seminar Event, to be held in Brussels in February 2025 at the European Parliament, will serve as an opportunity for political-institutional dialogue and discussion among social partners on the challenges and opportunities arising from the introduction of AI and robotics in the workplace.
